The haze and glow of Jordana’s latest single, “Crunch,” is nearly palpable. A new edition to a remastered and expanded rerelease of her 2019 album, Classical Notions of Happiness, Wichita’s Jordana Nye (Jordana) has found a clever and warm vehicle for yearning on her latest track, “Crunch.” Co-written and produced with Jeff Melvin aka Melvv, this song gives urgency and a controlled frenzy to the rush of feelings that come from desperately seeking attention from a specific someone. The guitars on this track act as their own dizzying voices that swirl amongst the lyrical wants, replicating the mind trap that is desire. It’s a heated song that leaves the listener wondering and wanting more of its enchanting, distorted melodic push and pull.
Jordana explains the song as follows:
“Crunch is a feeling of an overbearing want for validation from someone and getting the cold shoulder from them. The song starts out with the confidence in knowing this person could possibly notice you, and ends in anger and frustration seeing that they ignored you, established by a distorted guitar solo.”
Classical Notions of Happiness arrives in its new form on March 27th via Grand Jury. In the meantime, listen to more Jordana here.
