Girls To The Stage is compilation of female Philly artists who are always ready to rock. Rachel Dispenza and Lauren DeLucca, two seniors at University of the Arts, recorded and produced the compilation at Milkboy and Headroom studios and set up the release show for their senior project. A lo-fi delight, the collection provides a set of tracks different in texture and sentiment but united in the ability to prove that Philly’s female musician’s should never be underestimated. Roya and Shannon Moser bring soft and gentle ballads to release, the first drenched in reverb and the second alive with carefully plucked acoustic guitar. Fuzzy rock jams come from the sweet voices of MANNEQUIN PUSSY, the charming punk lasses of Amanda X, and the chilled but powerful VVeed VVolf. Fake Boyfriend‘s “Pix” is weirdly anthemic. Its understated roar foams over with sincere charm and youthful uncertainty as it builds in an odd sort of grandeur. Girls To The Stage is out now on tape via Girls Cartel Records and available for digital download below. All of the proceeds are going to Girls Rock Philly.
Come and hang with all your new musical gal pals (and us!) tonight at The Church for the release show! It’s sure to be a lady-rocking good time.
