Warped and warbling, the new single from Foreign/National is coated in a fuzzy haze. Last year, the Melbourne quintet released a delightfully lackadaisical debut EP (see below) filled with murky sounds as perfectly imperfect as the track above. Their latest, breezy track, “Always Blue,” brightens a seemingly painful moment in love with distorted guitars and an uplifting melody that makes sense of the dazed mental state reflected in the lyrics. It’s a moderately tropical, slightly psychedelic, partly heartbroken dose of transportive, warm sonics idling in poignant repetition. Foreign/National will be releasing “Always Blue” as part of a two-song EP in the coming months.
