Southern California indie rockers HUNNY have got a crackin’ debut number. “Cry for Me” carves out a retro rock groove with a classic and timeless feel that elevates its staying power. This sonically warm tune doesn’t waste the use of any of HUNNY’s six members, layering subtle but important lines of guitar and softly echoing interjections of harmonization and “Don’t talk about it.” A closer listen reveals, beneath the sunny noise, the band are examining the parting of a relationship without such sweet sorrow. Hopefully, this signals a run of more Prince-inspired material from HUNNY.
