Dorsal Fins have got a hip-shakin, new single “Mind Renovation.” Taking a step in a new direction from the decidedly 80’s hit “Monday Tuesday” (below), Dorsal Fins have added more layers, swirling sounds, and a whole lot more words to their latest number. “Mind Renovation” has a distinctly 90’s feel with a mash of glitching noise, a straightforward rambling of commentary, morphing guitar, a syncopated beat and their signature horn section. With 15 talented musicians to work with, it is exciting to watch how Dorsal Fins’ songs come together into finely-arranged, creative grooves. Though originally meant to be a recording only project for fun and experimentation, this Melbourne band has expanded to top-notch live shows that will hopefully soon make it stateside.
