Tune: néomí – “Didn’t I”

February 12, 2026

néomí‘s latest singles have all been the kind of music you can instantly feel but “Didn’t I” elevates her songwriting into something unavoidably immersive. Third in a series of heartfelt singles from the Dutch-Surinamese singer-songwriter, the song shines in colorful production and the emotional immediacy of its lyrics. néomí uses the song to find some lyrical perspective and release the unassigned guilt in the dying embers of a relationship. You can particularly feel the passion in the push of the chorus’s first half and the heartbreaking pull of the latter titular refrain. The song’s effortless flow is enhanced by the careful yet curious arrangement, most notably the addition of the saxophone. We meet the woodwind softly at the opening and it follows in the melody’s open pockets like a warm companion through a tough journey. Textural guitar strums, sputtering synths, and a perfectly steady beat guide the way for this wandering melody and simple plea to unite in a gentle resolution.
