Long time no tune sharing! That’s how you know that the new single from The Altered Hours is great. “Lay There With You” is a gritty, alternative waltz through visceral lyrics that come to life in charming two-part harmony. It’s the kind of song that’s both intentionally prickly and instantly familiar. Recorded to tape by analogue producer Julie McLarnon, the song has a nostalgic vibrance that punches through the entirety of the arrangement. From the delicious, rhythmic skips of the vocal melody to the steady hum of this bassline, this song has a purposeful tread that hits its stride perfectly on these choruses. But, it is that post-chorus, cascading guitar riff that is forever seared into our musical memory.
“Lay There With You” is part of the self-titled, third studio album from The Altered Hours which will be out on September 26th via Pizza Pizza Records. You can listen to more from The Altered Hours here.
