Don’t cry because it’s over, sigh because it happened!
The wild ride of 2016 was filled with trials and tribulations all around. Through love and loss, we found ourselves in fresh places, new careers, adrenaline pumping scenarios, and accidentally standing next to each other on the train platform.We spent One Swell Day with a few of our favorite artists, recorded sessions with a few special people, and even made a sad but summery compilation with Z Tapes. We shed tears of both hysterical laughter and somber sadness in between many moments of communicating “with just a look.” Together, we witnessed monumental changes, were reunited with our beloved Gilmore Girls, and ate a lot of pizza. All year, we processed our emotions through playlists for you and this one is no exception. This week, we bring you the big kahuna: our special, annual playlist of fifty, nifty tunes from 2016 that we couldn’t get enough of. Dark pop, lo-fi lullabies, sunny and supercharged melodies, and a lot of scream-a-long choruses really had our backs this year. You can hear a sense of solace in the playlist we’ve compiled with a little bit of irresistible fun and a hint of desperation poking through. While most have waited for the “mean 2016” year to end, we have waited to share the songs that got the Swell gals through the thick and thin of it all.
