The sun is setting on the sun’s favorite season.
The heat is finally breaking and the wonderfully unstructured days of summer are coming to a close over the next few weeks but that doesn’t mean we’ve finished with our seasonal playlists. We needed to cap off our 2025 summer playlist series with something that has a bit of everything: love, saxophone, weird, tenderness, sincerity, regretful goodbyes, and synthesizer beauty. In thinking about songs for this playlist, it felt like a collection of songs that are perfect for closing time. It’s not the end of the night but it is the drive home with the windows down getting in that last bit of sunset. Some of it is quiet and contemplative and other parts are intentionally a bit unnerving but it all ties together with warmth.
