Palm Sunday‘s video for their track “Swimming In Indigo” is absolutely stunning. A track from the New Orleans trio’s 2019 debut EP Wishful Thinking, the song is curious, ethereal, and delicate in its patient exploration of tenderness and gentle sounds. The melody, and particularly the refrain, comes in waves that ripple gracefully in Merle’s voice. What unites the visual and sonic art for this track is a sense of purpose and intention. Both carefully created to unfold in an unbroken stream of aesthetically pleasing treasures, the video for “Swimming In Indigo” is teeming with sonic and visual enchantment.
Directed by Bron Moyi, the track’s accompanying visual combines many artistic talents and beautiful landscapes of New Orleans to form a colorful homage to a close relationship. Shadows, light, smoke, plants, fireworks, and more outline Merle as they sing through the song’s vibrant melody and adventure off with a friend to a record shop, bathtub chess, and the waterside at dusk. It’s a more than rewarding five and a half minutes of dazzling art that will swallow viewers and listeners into its magic.
