Artist in Residence: Annie Hamilton

April 9, 2020

Live from quarantine, it’s Annie Hamilton.

Today, we’re continuing our new series on Swell Tone called Artist in Residence. Our friends and bands we love send us a video of a song live from their place of isolation that we hope brings you some moments of joy. We’re excited to share with you this live rendition of “My New Tattooed Chameleon.”

Annie Hamilton is a woman of many talents but she’s especially great at creating immersive and ethereal indie rock that blossoms gradually and powerfully. In a shimmering web of guitar, her vulnerable lyrics unfold in a colorful haze. “My New Tattooed Chameleon” is the kind of song that instantly makes you feel alive. There’s a lingering uncertainty flooded with a rush of thoughts and emotions that builds feverishly. Enjoy this stripped-down, live version above!

Annie kindly recorded this live version for us from her home and the video was shot by Jessica Hamilton. You can support Annie by buying her music on anniehamilton.bandcamp.com. Her self-titled EP is coming out on May 1st! It includes the original version of this track as well as her new single “Panic” and you can pre-save it on your preferred platform here. Follow Annie Hamilton on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Spotify, and download the coloring book she made here.
