Video: Arche -“Back to the Sun”

Since the tantalizing “My Only,” we’ve been eagerly awaiting more greatness from Lyon’s purveyors of French pop.

Arche did not disappoint on their latest single, “Back to the Sun.” The song melts into a sort of entrancing mirage as the band slowly builds an impenetrable wall of warm and sparkling synth and guitar. With the vocals gradually shifting from refrain to refrain, there’s an ease and a freedom about the tune that never loses momentum as it glides into a sunset of synth.

Surely aiming to promote their (likely-soon-to-be-established) school of small dancing and knowing looks, the clip for “Back to the Sun” is yet another wonderland of shapes, colors, symmetry, and good ol’ fashion fun in the sun. Directed by Arthur Moget, the accompanying visual for the tune took advantage of all the seaside had to offer with each shot structured to both fit in and oddly stand out from the sandy and colorful surroundings. Just as the small zooms and unpredictable rock of the ocean float in time with the tune, a mini horse suddenly appears and might have you thinking, “Why?” But, the real question is: “Why Not?” Set sail on the bubbling waters of “Back to the Sun” above or below.
