There’s magic in every corner of the world. Today’s bit of sparkle comes from Ditty in Goa, India. According to her bio, Ditty is an urban ecologist by day and a musician by night who writes and sings earthsongs. Her latest single, “Garden,” is a testament to her mastery of delicate but intentional songwriting filled with wonder. Supported by a cloud of distant synth and steady acoustic guitar, the melody rises and falls with tempered grace as the lyrics delve into clever ways to counteract life’s disappointments. Each line of verse is its own little portrait of a moment of darkness and its counterbalance of light. “Garden” is a vivid dream that stays true to Ditty’s earthly groundings.
Arranged by Dhruv Bhola, recorded by Shantanu Pandit in her bedroom, and mixed by Mathias Durand, Ditty’s new album, Poetry Ceylon, will be be available via Pagal Haina Records on June 3rd.
