The magical, mystical town of Perth is home to a music scene exploding with talent. Tame Impala‘s soaring success has shed a brighter light on the close knit community of impressive musicians whose projects contract and expand at will. As often in such tightly packed scenes, some acts with great material go as quickly as they appear. Tame Impala and Pond’s funky cousin Space Lime Peacock is a perfect example. Containing current and past members of both groups, Space Lime Peacock made one stellar funk album with heavy psychedelic coating appropriately titled Shit A Cosmic Jam. Patiently, it tinkers through each groove with instrumentation focal shifts that surge through the cloud of distortion. Give it a listen or three and try not to get lost in its propulsive, kaleidoscopic rhythms.
