OK Fest is back for a second year, bigger and better than ever. Lots of DIY fests have been popping up around Philadelphia in the past few years but this is one of the stand outs. This year, the expanded line-up really seems to capture one of city’s more dominant music scenes as it sounds right now. While the stacked bill of Day 3 represents what the rest of the country might be hearing of Philly at the moment, there are an eclectic variety of smaller locals on the rise that are also not to be missed (Loose Tooth, the spirit of the beehive, Lithuania). Notable names from outside Philadelphia (Shellshag, Eskimeaux, Quarterbacks, Told Slant, Dogbreth, Pile) round out the fest’s assortment of lo-fi punk that is sure to fill rooms with sweaty, dancing bodies. It’s hard to find lengthy bills as thoroughly solid as these, especially three days in a row. The whole fest is all ages and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Attic Youth Center. I’ll certainly be there. But, just in case you can’t make it or if you want to be extra prepared to scream along, I’ve compiled my favorite tracks from all the artists below. Listen, love, and get your tickets here.
