Digging Deeper

Digging Deeper: r.ariel – Changer

May 30, 2015

r.ariel makes the kind of music you can live inside. Phoenix Musician and all-around creative Rachel Crocker (r.ariel) has a knack for crafting little distorted pillows of sound that flow with their own, unique grace. Synth blips and echoing guitar riffs form the gentle current of her newest album, Changer. More than an album, Changer establishes itself quickly as an all-consuming atmosphere. Crocker’s voice carries a delicate and peculiar charm from track to track and melody to melody.  While the album is driven by quaint reverberations and Crocker’s warble, its enchanting power comes from the intentional voids and the effortless feel of its progression.

Crocker has spent much of her time in music touring the world. She is currently on a four month solo tour of North America. In September, she’ll be releasing a book called “In North America” through Papercut Press about the many experiences of touring alone as a woman. Come be a part of it tonight by seeing her live at Baker Bowl or explore the rest of her tunes on her Bandcamp.
