In my quest to love all things Brisbane, I’ve found another duo off to a promising start. Veople is the musical output of Jay Jermyn and Dakota that is self-described as “a music and art project exploring the feeling you get when standing in the sun.” The airy soundscape carved by the guitars and bassline vying for prominence in their debut single, “Riviera,” will leave you in a such a sun-kissed bliss. Meshing the texturization of post-rock with glowing swells of mellow indie rock, this driving tune is artfully layered to tell a musical story with movement, purpose, and hardly any words. Shout-out to Brisbane for more great music.
