Oh how we love our brothers of the pine! I think Victoria and I have collectively seen Philly/New Jersey band Pine Barons over 15 (How many is too many?) times this year with no time being any less enjoyable than the last. Despite not having released any new music since early 2013, their timeless blend of lush harmonies, lyrical poetry, and eclectic instrumentation is inviting on first listen and through relentless repetitions. One cut from their debut self-titled album, “Chamber Choir,” is the epitome of said amalgamation that resonates with just a little extra magic than the rest. So, in honor of Christmas Eve eve (which shall henceforth be known as Pine Barons Appreciation Day), here are four versions of “Chamber Choir” in descending order from direct album version to the barest version of the song:
