Video: FUR – “The Fine Line Of A Quiet Life”

FUR are back with another rollicking single brimming with golden tones called “The Fine Line Of A Quiet Life.” The Brighton quartet have been a longtime Swell Tone favorite because they make a nostalgic-flavored style of indie rock that is as contemplative as it merry and bright. This latest single’s pace, ripping guitar riffs, and unstoppable rhythm section swirl together to create a sort of dizzying effect that perfectly matches the lyrics. There’s an instant memorability to the song’s snappy groove and chorus drops that never get any less satisfying.

It’s a song with intentions best described by the band themselves:

The Fine Line of a Quiet Life is a documentation of mixed messages you give yourself and take from others about where you feel you should be in your life, and where you’re at. It’s about self reflection and understanding. It’s about detaching yourself from situations you’ve already been in and know the outcome of. Much like growing up, you learn not to do certain things and slowly but surely you learn that there’s a ‘fine line’ of what lifestyle becomes acceptable the older you get and also what you can hack as an adult (that maybe doesn’t feel too much like one). The feeling of regret and ‘how could I be so blind’ that everyone has felt in relationships that really only comes out once it’s done is something that also goes hand in hand with a mutual respect for a collapsed relationship, and that there’s no undoing of things you’ve done and it’s best to just move on and suck it up.”

Visually, the band captured this same concept well in their journey through the countryside on double decker bus in the clip directed by Kris R. In warm tones and shifting angles, the bus ride turns to a tipsy tea party before the the group reach coastal cliffs at sunset. It’s a wild ride as lively as the tune.

“The Fine Line Of A Quiet Life” is out now on 777 MUSIC. Watch above and listen below. Check out more from FUR here.
