One Swell Day: Sylvan Esso

June 13, 2017

It’s easy to dive into the music of Sylvan Esso. Together, Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn have created a sound that is invigorating, inspiring, and imaginative. Through my own countless repetitions of their self-titled debut and their sophomore album What Now, I’ve found an overwhelming sense of fulfillment and joy in the thumping glitches and glowing melodies of Sylvan Esso’s music. I got the chance to interview them along with Josh T. Landow for Y-Not Radio when they came around on tour last month. They talked us through some songs from their current album and a playlist of their choosing. You can listen to the interview here.

After the interview, the band kindly agreed to finish off the last five shots on a disposable camera for us. They took off, scampering down the hall and bumping into the walls as they giggled. Above, you’ll find the delightful results of their five opportunities for film photography greatness. Below are the list of tracks they chose throughout the takeover but you’ll have to listen to the whole thing above to hear why they chose them! It’s a true pleasure to find such genuine souls in the music industry who immerse themselves in their art. If you have the chance to support Sylvan Esso by attending a show, buying a CD to sing-a-long to in your car, or just streaming their songs, we’d highly recommend that you do so.
