Tune: Frontyards – “Lemons”

June 17, 2016

Frontyards‘ new single is oozing with sun-kissed riffs and potential. We’ve been keeping an ear on Frontyards since they sent us “¿Adonde vas?” awhile back and they just keep getting better. Made of the Pignetti triplets (Donato, Massimo, and Gianni), Franklin Mostoller, and Will McGoran, the young band have made a noticeable jump in songwriting on the first track from their upcoming album Sachi. “Lemons” is a spry, little tune with an incredibly catchy chorus. Punctuated with firm but brief pauses, the whizzes, swelling blasts of sound, and muted backdrop of harmonies amalgamate into warm pop with the perfectly frayed edges. Bright and forlorn at the same time, “Lemons” propels its lighthearted metaphor through verses of realization. The song’s cleverly tinkered layers set a promising tone for the rest of the album.

Head to Frontyards’ Single Release Show tonight with a stacked line-up of Two Inch Astronaut, Shelf Life, Dolly Spartans, and Hello Shark at Underground Animal. Or, see them live at their two-story Record Release Show on July 9th at Everybody Hits.
