Every day is made better and certainly more languorous by Cigarettes After Sex. This formerly Texan, currently Brooklyn-based band produces melancholy, slow pop that will sweetly rock any listener into a listless stupor. Since 2012, I have been soaking in their glorious first EP (below) in hopes of more mellow lullabies to soundtrack my dreams in the daytime and at night. “Affection” continues the dreamy, pensive flow from their previous output with an added increase in quality. Singer and guitarist Greg Gonzalez’s crisp, warm whispers suitably oppose the heaviness of the resounding bassline while both meld into the wash of electric guitar echoing in the distance. Slow and steady, “Affection” is five minutes of tender euphoria dipped in sadness. Live inside a dream above and below.
Yall definitely need to hear Cigarettes After Sex’ first full-length album released before the EP, it’s called “Romans 13:9″…it’s an awesome album that’ll get you rockin’.
