Less than a month into their official bandhood and Sydney three-piece Fern have a slow burning beauty of a debut track. “It Comes Slow” layers an artful punch of synths and guitars into a unstoppable force of mesmerizing pop. Its blissful drift never lulls, but rather shifts through bursting, new dynamic or rhythm changes with ease. Swelling with a triumphant glow, the song retains a lo-fi charm as it progresses patiently over nearly five minutes to a perfect balance of power and delicacy. Lauren, Scott, and Adrian (aka Fern) have started so unassumingly strong, it’s exciting to imagine what else they have up their musical sleeves.
