Dipped in psychedelics and frosted with reverb, the first track off London-based quartet Velvet Morning‘s debut LP, Gorilla, is a veritable dream. “You’re Blue, I’m Blue” settles comfortably amongst a series of slowly shifting instrumentation that tug the ear gently in subtly different directions. Largely unintelligible, the lyrics and voice of frontman and songwriter Samuel Jones serve as more of an added texture to fill bits of space within the echoing cavern carved out by interwoven guitars. Even with continued repetition, the placid tune never looses its languishing lustre. Gorilla is out on June 30th RIP Records and EXAG Records. Can you say PINK VINYL? You probably can.
