Tune: Nite Fields – “Prescription”

January 7, 2015

Brisbane’s post-punk dreamboats Nite Fields are finally releasing their debut!  I honestly can’t remember how I originally came across Nite Fields for the first time but I have been loving them ever since their first single, “You I Never Knew” (listen below), when it came out back in November. Their dark, dreamy sound is spacious enough to wander around inside and melt away. Molding this sound in studios, bedrooms, and garages of three cities over the past four years, Nite Fields are set to release their debut album, Depersonalization, on February 3rd via Felte . “Prescription” is their second single and just as promising as the first. As the forlorn melody echoes from jangling guitar and droning voice of Danny Venzin, the song holds on to the edginess of punk as it rides through layers of blossoming guitar chords and riffs and even a bit of saxophone. In the spirit of all good post-punk, it leaves you feeling strangely sad and comfortable at the same time.
